Who are Mutt Ramon?

When Simon Lancaster first met Neil Johnson the phrase "Lancaster-Johnson" was already ingrained in Simon's psyche. To him it sounded as familiar as the phrases "Morrissey-Marr", "Anderson-Butler" and "Captain-Tenille", due entirely to his father's ill-fated business partnership into wholesale fashion shoes during the seventies. To Simon it seemed that fate had brought them together.

The bond was instantaneous; the similarities uncanny. For a start they both worked in the same office, and they both owned musical instruments that they had (and possibly have) yet to master. Before long they were writing songs together, and soon the next generation of the Lancaster-Johnson partnership was born. However, this time tartan platform shoes would play no part...

But why the name?

Simon has forgotten how the name came to him. But he does know that for a good while he thought it was an anagram of Matt Monro. But one day he noticed that the famous Matt spelt his surname Munro. The more pretentious might notice that the band name has a vague similarity to the signature on Marcel Duchamp's infamous urinal exhibit, namely R.Mutt 1917. This is a coincidence.

Contributors:

Based in Helsinki, Finland, Robin sends poems and words, letting them be bashed around (slightly) to fit the tunes. His position as occasional indie club DJ gives the band a different view of the European music scene.

Helen drew the original dog pictures, and blows a borrowed Cornet (not her own Trumpet).

Jenny took the band photos, and fiddles.

They have both provided the odd backing vocal track (usually barking).
